Game Changers - Lesbians You Should Know About - Volume 1 tells the stories of women who resisted discrimination in the ‘60s and ‘70s to achieve their passions and, by doing so, went on to make significant contributions to LGBTQ culture. It is a colorful, large-format, richly-designed collection of biographies that guide the reader along each woman’s individual life map of defining moments and inspiring achievements.
As the first generation to break through the barriers of oppression and stigma, these women step forward as role models for today’s queer generation. Their fearless self-belief can inspire youth and young adults to dare to do the same, thereby continuing to advance opportunity for those who follow them.
Game Changers was created in response to California’s Fair Education Act, a law requiring inclusion of LGBT history and social studies in the California public school curriculum. Game Changers was awarded Best New LGBTQ Book at the New Generation Indie Book Awards.
Lesbian Game Changers has donated more than 300 copies of Game Changers - Lesbians You Should Know About to every public high school in the San Francisco Bay Area to use as an educational resource.
